Rose Mary Gerschick, 89, of Emmett, Michigan, formerly of Eastpointe, Michigan, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2021, at Wellbridge of Romeo. She was born on December 22, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan. The Daughter of the late John and Helen (Novak) Miotke. Rose was married to Donald Gerschick for 59 wonderful years, until he passed away in January 2011. For over 50 years she resided in Eastpointe Michigan, where many of the neighborhood fondly knew her as Mrs. G. She enjoyed cooking many meals for the kids that would come over throughout the years. Rose was a proud UAW worker at Ford Motor Company. She worked for over 25 years at the Ford Chesterfield plant, sewing seats for various vehicles, before retiring in 1997 to spend time with her family. She was a very talented crafter. You could often find her making afghans for her loved ones, and enjoyed ceramics. Rose was a longtime parishioner of St. Basil the Great Catholic Church in Eastpointe. Faith was very important in her life. In her spare time, you could find her volunteering at many church functions, including during Lent fish dinners, bingo, and other various activities. Rose always had a beautiful smile for everyone. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and faithful friend by those who will miss her dearly.Surviving are her son Michael (Jennifer) Gerschick. Her two angels, as she would often call them, grandsons Caleb and Jake. Brother-in-law Joseph Gerschick, as well as many nieces and nephews that she adored. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Don, parents John and Helen, brother John, sister-in-laws Dorothy and Edna. The family wishes to send special thank you to the staff, and caregivers at Wellbridge of Romeo for their compassionate care of Rose during the last few years. They always went above and beyond to make sure she was well taken care of. For that, we will be eternally grateful. Arrangements were made with Henry Malburg Funeral Home in Romeo, and cremation has taken place. Due to restrictions, and safety concerns, a celebration of life will take place at a later date. Rose was loved beyond measure by all who knew her.
