Alger G. Schoonover, 87, of Washington Township, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2020. He was born in Utica, Michigan, to his parents Carl and Hilda (Houghton) Schoonover. He resided on his family’s farm and graduated from Utica High School. He later married the love of his life, and fellow classmate, June Wlash. After completing his service in the U.S. Army, Alger returned to working as a watch repairman. He later received a Masters degree in Mathematics from Oakland University and went on to teach History, Mathematics, and Computer classes at Stevenson High School and later at Utica High School. Alger’s passion for photography has given his family many treasured photos commemorating the special moments they have all shared together. He also enjoyed traveling across the country, gardening, driving his tractor, computers, working on cars, and spending time with his family. Alger is survived by his loving wife June, children, Sandra, Debra, David (Tina), Pamela, Karen (Charles) Czapla, Lisa (Michael) Fingal, Brenda (John) Upleger, Grandchildren; Stephanie (Jerriah), Derreck, Joshua, Tyler, Samantha, Michael, Jessica, Blake, Caelan, Ellory, brother Rev. William (Norma) Schoonover, and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by by his parents, his sister, Beatrice (John) Winne, brothers Alfred (Betty), Gilbert (Norma), Ferry (Genella), Carl (Lucille), Donald (Sally), and Wilbert (Maxine). Memorial service to be scheduled at a later date with burial of cremated remains to be at Great Lakes Veteran Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Local arrangements by the Henry M.
