Amil John Rashid, age 91, a resident of Romeo since 1966, passed away Friday, October 24, 2025 at Orchard Grove Health Campus in Romeo Michigan. Amil was born August 7, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Majolly G. and Moneera Rashid. Amil graduated from Visitation High School in 1952. Amil went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from The University of Detroit where he met the love of his life, Patricia (Patty) Miller. They married June 1, 1957 at Our Lady of Redemption Catholic Church. Amil began his working career as a school teacher, then moved on to selling cars, and ended up working in Finance.
Amil enjoyed many hobbies, such as baking bread, playing piano, reading, crosswords, baseball, talking sports, and old movies. He was also a self-taught guitar musician. But his greatest joy was spending time with family. Amil was a lifelong member and usher at St. Clement Catholic Church.
Amil is survived by his children, Dudley (Laura) Rashid of Port Washington, Wisconsin, Pamela Rashid, of Royal Oak, Laura Fett, of Richmond, Tim (Julie) Rashid of Romeo, Jennifer (Paul) Medaugh of Ray Township, and Aimee Smith of Huntington Woods, as well as 18 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Amil was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia in 2011, children, Rebecca Rashid and Christopher Rashid, siblings, DeEtte Rashid, Gladys Ganim, Clemence Francis, and sons-in-law Thomas Fett and Kevin Smith.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025, 10:00 AM at St Clement Catholic Church (343 South Main Street, Romeo, 48065) with Visitation to be held Thursday, October 30, 2025 from 3:00 PM-8:00 PM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo Michigan.
