Anna Schudlick Hansen, 97, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2020, peacefully at her home in Romeo, Michigan surrounded by her children. She was born in Manchester, New York on April 28, 1922, to Ukrainian immigrants, George and Mary Schudlick. Anna graduated from Manchester High School in 1939 and attended Canandaigua Business School before relocating to Detroit during World War II and working in the offices of General Motors Corp. After the war, she married Dr. Earl Hansen in 1947 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in St Clair Shores, Michigan. They moved to Romeo in 1954 and retired to Mancelona in 1981. Anna returned to Romeo in 1996 after Earl’s death. In addition to raising eight children, Anna was active in the St. Clement Mission Guild and the Altar Society as well as the Romeo VFW Women’s Auxiliary. After retiring to Mancelona, she became a contributing member of St. Mary’s Women’s Guild and the Kalkaska Hospital Women’s Auxiliary. Anna was preceded in death by her husband Earl, son Robert and grandson David Bright. She is survived by eight children: Earl Jr. (Lori Matthews) of Mancelona; Patricia Hansen of Romeo; Michael (David Smyton) of Sonoma, California; Charles (Patience) of Armada; Mark (Mary) of Washington Twp; Margaret (Brian) Bright of Washington Twp; Linda Bergman of Romeo; and James (Anna) of Romeo. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be private with a Memorial Mass at a later date at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church of Romeo with burial at St. Mary’s of the Woods Cemetery in Kalkaska, Michigan. Donations to the Capuchin Retreat Center in Washington Township or the PIME Missions would be appreciated. No flowers please.
