Barbara J. Newman

Barbara J. Newman, age 89, a resident of Sterling Heights since the mid 1980’s and previously from Alpena, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2021 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township, Michigan. Barbara was born February 2, 1932 in Rochester Hills, Michigan the daughter of Earl and Mary Eckert. For many years she was married to Roy Newman until his death, then moved to Sterling Heights, where she started work at the Romeo Tractor Plant as an executive secretary. When she was younger, she also worked at Twist Drill, also as a secretary. Upon retirement, she had more time to golf and loved to oil paint. When she lived in Alpena, she was well known for her sewing, which she taught to her many students. Barbara is survived by her son Jeffrey of Romeo along with 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sons: David, Pat, and Rick. A memorial gathering will take place on Saturday, July 10th from 2- 6 PM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, (11280 32 Mile Road, Romeo Michigan 48065).
