Betty M. Pollock

December 11, 1927 - October 13, 2025

Betty M. Pollock, age 97, a lifelong resident of the Romeo and Cusic Lake area, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Detroit on December 11, 1927, Betty was the eldest of five children of Marie (née Pelletier) and Glenn Lottie. On April 6, 1953, she married the love of her life, Edward B. Pollock, in Angola, Indiana. They later renewed their vows on September 19, 1981, at St. Clement Catholic Church.

Betty was honored by the American Rosie the Riveter Association Honor Rosies in the 2024 Thanksgiving Parade in acknowledgement for her working at the Bell Telephone Company as an overseas switchboard operator during World War II, a job she cherished for the opportunity to connect people across the globe.

Above all, Betty loved being a mother and homemaker. She took great pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and delighted in preparing family meals, especially the fish caught by her husband and kids.

A devoted Detroit Tigers fan, Betty always dressed up to cheer on her team. Betty loved a good card game, but nothing made her light up quite like Bingo. A passionate reader, she was rarely without a book nearby, and even wore out 4 kindles! Many summer days found her driving her golf cart down to Cusic Lake to read a mystery novel and watch the sunlight dance on the water. Betty also had a lifelong love of animals, a trait she proudly passed down to her children.

She’ll be most remembered for her clever wit, joyous laugh, and authentically warm hugs.

Betty is survived by her beloved siblings Glenn Lottie, Annette Avolio, and Sue Hayden; sister-in-law Joan Pollock; and her children Elizabeth (Mike) Hackerd, Theresa (Greg) Strobel, Ed Pollock, Louise Pollock, Ben Pollock, Vince (Tracey) Pollock, and Mike (Crystal) Pollock.

She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Allen (Kim) Hackerd, Jennifer (Jay) Prouty, Andrea (Joe) Strobel-Chryczyk, Jason (Erin) Strobel, Eddie Pollock, Megan Pollock, Richard M. Luth, Nathan (Bridget Albrecht) Luth, Autumn (Matt) Frederick, Olivia Pollock, Nick (fiancée Lindsey) Pollock, Nicole (Jeremy) Shook, Noelle (Ryan) Quinn, Noah (Stephanie) Pollock, Logan (Emily) Vecchi, Peyton Vecchi, Samuel Vecchi, Laura Pollock, and Aaron Pollock; and by her great-grandchildren Max Hackerd, Avery Hackerd, Mercy Prouty, Adele Prouty, Elise Ormiston, Briella Strobel, Marisa Strobel, Ji Luth, Chan Luth, Evan Luth, Madeline Luth, Kaegen Shook, Kaelynn Shook, Ryan Jr. Quinn, Luke Quinn, Levi Quinn, and Naomi Pollock.

She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends who will cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Pollock; her son, Jimmy Pollock; her brother, Gene Lottie; her brothers- and sisters-in-law Pat Lottie, Nancy Lottie, Robert Avolio, Eugene Pollock, Edward and Eleanor Ochylski; and her daughters-in-law Gerri Ann Pollock and Tina Pollock, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
