Carol Sue Stokes

Carol Sue Stokes, a life-long resident of Romeo-Washington area, passed away Sunday, April 19th, 2026 peacefully at home. She was 80 years of age.

Carol was born in Mt Clemens Michigan in July 1945, the daughter of late Donald and Ruby Payne. Carol graduated from Romeo Senior High School in 1963. She was united in marriage to James in August 1965. Carol was a homemaker who worked part-time at Burger King and Romeo Continuing Care. She enjoyed her family pets (cats/dogs), collecting horse figurines, camping with her family, riding her motorcycle and snowmobiling. Her favorite hobby was making crocheted daisy baby blankets for each family member as they welcomed a new baby.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, James Stokes. Carol is survived by her children: Penny (Dean) Orr, Mike (Glenda O'Rourke) Stokes, Donald (Sheila) Stokes, Theresa (Bob) Teller, and Wendy (John) Kreger, her sister-in-law, Evelyn Dietlin, her brother-in-law, John (Tracy) Stokes. Carol is also survived by 42 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Wednesday April 22, 2026 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 23, 2026 at 10:00 AM with burial at Romeo Cemetery to follow.
