CAROLYN ANNE ANTHONY, born on March 6, 1939, the daughter of John and Anna Jane (Ruen) Wolf. As a young child, Carolyn moved with her parents to Saginaw MI, where she was raised and graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1957. Carolyn went on to attend Saint Mary’s College in South Bend, IN, before transferring to Michigan State University (MSU) in East Lansing, MI, where she studied English and Teaching. There, she met her future husband of nearly 60 years, Gary Spicuzza Anthony (deceased in 2019). Carolyn and Gary both graduated from MSU and moved to the Washington, DC area along with their first child Kathy. While in the Washington DC area, Carolyn and Gary had three sons, Gary, Steven, and Christopher, before moving to Mount Clemens, MI, in 1966. Carolyn and Gary raised their four children and worked methodically over the years to oversee the restoration and maintenance of a farmhouse on 24 Mile Road in Macomb Township prior to moving to Romeo MI in 1990, where she resided until her passing.

Over the course of her life Carolyn was actively engaged in various social, civic and artistic organizations, including the MSU Alumni Association, Monday Club and the Starkweather Arts Center. She was also an adventurous world traveler, an avid and somewhat competitive bridge player and an accomplished knitter.

Carolyn’s passing on July 19 leaves her children Kathy Pape of Portland,OR, (husband Glenn Pape deceased 2025), Gary Anthony of Roscommon, MI, Steven Anthony (wife Pamela) of Arlington, VA and Christopher Anthony of San Mateo, CA. She also leaves her grandchildren Madeline Pape of New York, NY,and Sam Pape (wife Rejane Pape) of Portland, OR. and Julia Anthony of Arlington, VA (deceased 2017) and her great grandson, Yves Pape of Portland, OR, her many siblings, nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home in Romeo on Friday August 15, 2025 from 4:00-7:00 PM, and on Saturday, August 16 beginning at 10:00 AM followed by a memorial service at 11:00 at the Funeral Home.
