Daniel “Chip” Barnabo passed away on January 20, 2024, at the age of 72, following a 15-year battle with Parkinson's Disease. Surrounded by the love of his family, Dan peacefully departed this life at his lifelong residence in Romeo, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be etched in the hearts of those fortunate enough to know him.
Born on December 29, 1951, in Almont, Michigan, Dan was the beloved son of Daniel and Geraldine (Parsons) Barnabo. His journey through life was marked by a commitment to education and a passion for nurturing young minds as a high school teacher and coach. Dan graduated from Romeo High School in 1970 and earned his undergraduate and master degrees in Education from Michigan State University. As a proud MSU Alumni, his alma mater held a special place in his heart.
For an incredible 43 years, Dan dedicated his life to teaching at Henry Ford II High School. His impact on countless students and colleagues was profound, shaping minds and leaving an indelible mark on the educational community. Both inside and outside the classroom, Dan was known for his quick wit and love for jokes, bringing laughter and joy to all who had the pleasure of sharing a moment with him. Dan also found joy in the simple pleasures of life. An avid enthusiast of baseball, music, and traveling "Up North," he embraced every moment with laughter and a zest for living.
Dan leaves behind a legacy of love and family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Lori (Evely) Barnabo of 40 years, his cherished daughters Amy (Ian) Eady of Virginia Beach, Mary (Josh) Mahoney of Macomb Township, and Julie (Dennis) Rose of Macomb Township. Additionally, he is remembered by his brother-in-law Hector Campos, adored grandchildren, Katelyn, Daniel, Liam, and Luke, and a large and loving extended family. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Judy Campos, and his beloved granddaughter, Alivia Eady.

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 1-4 at The Abbey on Main (102 Church Street Romeo, MI 48065).
