Donald L. Carman

Donald L. Carman, age 88, a longtime resident of Sterling Heights, passed away Friday, May 8, 2026 at Wellbridge of Romeo. Donald was born March 29, 1938 in Dowagiac, Michigan, the son of Arthur and Evaline (Copley) Carman.

Donald attended Royal Oak Dondaro High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the Army where he served for 3 years before being honorably discharged. Donald was founder/operator of Five Star Systems in 1984 until his retirement in 2014. He was also on the Board of the Cincinnati Hospital Burn Unit. Donald was active with the Masonic organization. He was a 33rd Degree Mason, Potemtate of the Shrine and Grand Master of Michigan. Donald enjoyed woodworking, fishing, cards, playing bridge, cooking, and going to church.

Donald is survived by his children, Todd (Christina) Carman of Almont, Chad (April) Carman of Almont, and Susan (Darwin) Roe of Troy, grandchildren, Justin (Cristin) Munley, Meggan Carman, Chad Carman II, Brendan Roe, and Emily Roe, as well as great-grandchild Lauren Munley.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2026 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Masonic Service being held at 7:00 PM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, 11280 32 Mile Road, Romeo Michigan 48065. (1/2 Mile west of the light in down town Romeo). 

A funeral Mass will be held at the St. Blaise Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at 9:30 AM. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 9 AM till the Mass starts at 9:30 AM. Location of church is 12151 15 Mile Road (Just east of Dodge Park Road) in Sterling Heights Michigan 48312. 

Burial will take place at Great Lakes Veterans Cemetery in Holly, Michigan at a later date.
