Gladys Ilein Dunkley

Gladys Ilein Dunkley, age 95, a lifetime resident of Romeo, Michigan, passed away Monday July 6, 2026 at her home in Bruce Township. Gladys was born August 19, 1930, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Henry J. and Bertha (Majeske) Hoenicke. Gladys graduated from South Eastern High School in Detroit. She worked as a secretary throughout her career, working at GM, Chevrolet, US Steel, and Michigan Limestone. She enjoyed sewing, baking, cross stitch, and shopping. She was known to be able to fix anything. Gladys was also involved in church, and helped at the schools with their Home Economics program.

Gladys is survived by her daughter, Janet Kubler of Bruce Township, brother, Jim Hoenicke, of Shelby Township, grandchildren, Zachary (Madison) Dering, Sarah Dering of Bruce Township, and Tyler Kubler of Bruce Township, one great-granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday August 15, 2026, 11:00 AM, at Bethesda Christian Church (14000 Metro Pkwy, Sterling Heights, MI 48312).
