Helen Faye White, a resident of Utica since 1978, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Michigan. Faye was born February 25, 1950 in Whitesburg, Kentucky, the daughter of Lester and Bernice (Thomas) Baker and graduated from Romeo High school in 1966. She married Henry White on August 20, 1977 at St Paul’s Episcopal Church in Romeo. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother and had an eclectic career that included managing payroll in the early days of the Stryker Corporation, as a seamstress at Shelby Trim, and as the office manager for MacDonald, Stone, & Goren law firm.
While Grammy’s palate was delicate (ketchup was too spicy!), her love for her family was unyielding. She treasured her Southern roots (a true coal miner’s daughter a la Loretta Lynn!), and she made her house a place where you knew you were welcome and the grandkids could be grandbabies. In addition to her family, she enjoyed quilting, making afghans, gardening, and being involved in her church, Faith Freewill Baptist Church.
Faye is survived by her husband Henry, children: Stuart (Barbara) Bauman of Fenton, Jeff (Jennifer) Bauman of Shelby Twp., and Ryan (Melissa) White of White Lake. Also survived by her grandchildren Charlotte, Carter, Spencer & Logan Bauman, Audrey, Jacob, Micah & Callie White and brothers Wally (Tina) Baker and James Baker.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 9, from 3-7 PM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home of Romeo with a funeral on Thursday, September 10, at 10 AM at the funeral home. Burial will take place at the Imlay Township Cemetery.
