Howard L. Murray, age 91, a long time resident of Romeo, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2026 at Henry Ford Rochester Hospital. Howard was born on March 27, 1935, the son of Howard and Ethel (Thomas). He was a 1954 graduate of Port Huron High School. On June 19, 1954 he married Donna Mae Nelson in Port Huron, and they were married for 67 years. During his 40 year work career he owned and operated several successful businesses. In 1974, he opened and co-owned D&N Bending, an automotive supply shop where he worked until he retired in 1990. Howard was very active in the community; He coached softball in the Romeo Girls Softball League, and he was a long-time member of the Romeo Lions Club. After retirement Howard and Donna loved to buy houses and restore them and then flip them. He also loved to spend his winters in Florida.
Howard is survived by his children: Steven A. (Tina Nettnay) Murray of Bruce Township, Vickie (Courtland) Lee of Romeo, Brian (Sara) Murray of Bruce Township, and Connie (Brian) Smith of Shelby Township, grandchildren Brian (Meghan) Murray, Matthew (Amanda) Murray, Nicholas (Melissa) Murray, Chad (Trista) Miller, Scott (Sarah) Miller, Jennifer (Jon) Bednarz, Michael (Kristen) Murray, Tanya (Jeff) Carrol, Amanda (Stewart) Martin, Lindsey (Zachary) Lewis, and Jacob Hernden, as well as 24 Great-Grandchildren, along with his companion Barb Trobovich of Romeo. Howard was preceded in death by his wife Donna and his Great-Grandson Gavin Miller
Funeral Services will take place on Friday, October 9, 2026 at 10 am at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home with Pastor Eric Majeski officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2026 from 1-8 P.M. at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Bruce-Armada Cemetery in Bruce Township, Michigan.
