James Edward Palonis

James Edward Palonis, age 90, a resident of Washington, Michigan, passed away Saturday December 13, 2025 at Vista Springs of Washington. James was born November 29, 1935, the son of Stanley and Florence (Glowezwski) Palonis. He attended St. Anthony's High School in Detroit. He went to Wayne State University, where he obtained his Master’s Degree in Education. James taught for over 40 years in East Detroit. James also served his country in the Korean War where, as Private First Class, he earned a National Defense Service Medal. In his spare time, James enjoyed playing golf.

James’ legacy is one of faith and family- "life is a mystery, a miracle and we live by God's mercy” - his 3 M's. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, uncle and great uncle. James is survived by his wife, Patricia M. Palonis, sons, Patrick Palonis, wife Shannan (Williams) Warren MI; children Shane and Carly Palonis, daughters, Colleen Horrocks (Kipp) Humble, TX - child Anders Horrocks (Kevin DeGraad) Huntsville, AL, Lori McInnes (Mark) Bloomfield Twp. MI, Mary Ellen Lohning (Dave); child Nicholas Lohning, and Cathy Reis; children Jerry Reis (Amber) child Aries Reis; Adam Reis, children Jack Reis, Kinsley Reis. 

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 17, 2025, 4:00 PM, at St Clement Catholic Church in Romeo (343 South Main Street).
