James “Paul” Warren, age 88, a resident of Bruce Township since 1992 and formerly of Warren, passed away at Troy Beaumont Hospital on December 17 2023, with family by his side. Paul was born on January 29, 1935 in Etta, Mississippi, son of Ernest Raymond and Mattie Mae (Norwood) Warren. Paul retired from Chrysler Corporation Warren Stamping after 31 years as a refrigerator engineer and boiler room operator. In addition, Paul was involved in various business ventures. In his earlier years, Paul’s hobbies revolved around building and flying airplanes. His later passion involved buying and trading antique cars, and could often be seen at car shows. Paul was also a lifelong Mason in Detroit, and served his country proudly in the U.S. Army.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Doris (Tatum); his children Jeffrey Warren of Bruce Township, April (Steve) VanOast of Shelby Township, and Gary (Amy) Warren of Chesterfield Township. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren Melissa (Dan), Hannah (Andrew), Collin, Lydia, Kayley, Taylor (Anthony), Madalyn, and Amanda; step-grandchildren Steven (Kelly) and Heather (Joe); great-grandchildren Hudson, Harvey, Grayson, Liam, Kinsley, and Mason. Also survived by his siblings, Hugh (Mary Ellen), Wayne (Agnes), Charlie (Jan), and Virginia Bonds. Predeceased by his parents, as well as his brother Calvin Benjamin (C.B.).
Visitation will be held on Thursday December 21, 2023 from 2 to 8PM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home in Romeo, Michigan. Funeral services will be held on Friday December 22, 2023 at 10:00AM at the funeral home, with a burial to follow at the Romeo Cemetery.
