Janina Szamiel, 76, of Leonard, Michigan passed away peacefully with her children Anita and Sebastian by her side. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who abundantly shared her kindness and love not only to her family but opened her heart by caring for others and warmly welcomed extended family members to stay with them. Her kindness and compassion knew no bounds.

Born in Ilkowice, Poland June 24, 1948, to Antonina Pikul and Feliks Szabla, she immigrated to the United States as an adult. She met her husband, Eugene Szamiel in Hamtramck, Michigan and married shortly after on August 2, 1975, where they pledged their eternal love to one another. They were blessed with two children, Anita and Sebastian with whom she dedicated her love of family and faith in God. She cherished her role as a loving and proud wife, mother and grandmother never seeking more than the beauty of a simple life. Some of her happiest moments were spent surrounded by the laughter and love of her family.

Her love for caring for her family extended into a humble life as a homemaker, where she found joy and tranquility in gardening and the simple rhythms of home. Her greatest moments were spent gathering with family, delighting in the time shared as Baci with her grandchildren, whom she adored. She also loved attending church, where she immersed herself in worship and shared her beautiful voice through song.

Janina is preceded in death by her parents, Antonina and Feliks and her husband Eugene with whom she was married to almost 50 years and who cared for her selflessly until his death in April just 7 weeks prior to her passing. She is survived by her children Anita Morawski (Jerry) and Sebastian Szamiel (Stacie); cherished grandchildren, Mitchel Morawski (Ashlee), Nicholas Morawski, Kyleigh Szamiel, Tessa Szamiel, Scarlett Szamiel; and her great-granddaughter Violet Leeper; her siblings Stanley Szabla, Jadwiga Jablonowski (Hans Jablonowski) and Marta Jez along with many extended family and dear friends.
