JoEllen Schoenherr

JoEllen Schoenherr, age 79, a longtime Washington, Michigan, resident passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2026 at home. JoEllen was born July 14, 1947 in Highland Park, Michigan, the daughter of Joseph S. and Dorothy (Spencer) Mollon. JoEllen attended Ferndale High School, and following graduation met the love of her life while working at Ford Tractor. On September 27, 1968, she married James A. Schoenherr at St. Isodore Catholic Church.

During her working career, JoEllen worked as a longtime senior transportation driver and spent a few years as an elementary school paraprofessional. But, her greatest life's work was teaching all of her grandkids to read. She also enjoyed gardening, painting, spending time with her kids, and trips to the casino.

JoEllen is survived by her husband, Jim of Washington, children, Greg (Julie) Schoenherr of Leonard, and Laura (Donald) Kern of Washington, grandchildren, Josh, Annalia, Kaitlynn (Scott) Clark, Sarah DeSalvio, Mary Mabbitt, Matthew Kern, Donald (Paige) Kern Jr., and James (Ali) Kern, as well as great-grandchildren, Oliver, Charleigh, Ava, Mia, Liam, Emersyn, and Collin.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026 at 10:00 AM, with visitation to be held on Thursday, October 29, 2026 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home.
