John C. Dehring, age 69, a resident of Lapeer for the last 5 years and previously from Armada, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at McLaren-Flint Hospital. John was born October 27, 1954 in Detroit, the son of Paul Gregory and Barbara (DeShryer) Dehring. After graduating from Armada High School and working on the family farm, (Madonna Meadows Dairy), John joined the Marines and after serving his time, he started working for Theut’s Product as a cement truck driver and he really loved his job. He was well known with contractors and enjoyed the camaraderie amongst the people that he worked with. Upon retiring in 2012 after 35 years, John and Barb got to spend more time, camping & fishing. He was an ace domino’s player and loved getting his daily scratch off tickets to see if he had won anything. He also enjoyed playing an occasional game of Risk, with some of his long time friends Rob and Jim.
John is survived by his wife Barbara (Swain) whom he married in 1978 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Memphis Michigan. John is also survived by his siblings: Mary Grace (Gerry) Blouin, Ann (Mark) Jager, Peter (Tammy) Dehring, Philip (Maggie) Dehring, Mary Clare Dunkel, Matthew Dehring, Joe (Tina) Dehring, & Greg (Sharon) Dehring. Also survived by brother-in-laws, Dan (Patrica) & David (Lori) Swain. Sister in laws Sharon (Regis) McCue, and Peggy Holcomb. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Maggie.
A Memorial service will take place on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 7 PM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo Michigan with visitation from 4-8.
