John Edward Gallagher, age 76, a resident of Madison Heights for the last 21 years, passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Michigan. John was born December 16, 1944 in Detroit, the son of James and MaryJane (Dillon) Gallagher. After serving in the Army in the middle 1960’s, John began working at Champion Spark Plug company in Detroit. He then moved to Ford Motor where he worked at The Rouge Complex until 2005 when he retired. While working, he was a production supervision. In his youth, he worked for a short time for J.L. Hudson Store in Detroit & delivered newspapers for the News/Free Press. While raising his children, he was Scoutmaster of the Boy Scout Troop # 87, a Little League Baseball coach and traveled with his daughter to show horses for 4H. John is survived by his 2 children, Kathleen (Edward Hill) Gallagher of Grosse Pointe Farms and Dan of Washington Township, MI. Grandchildren include Nathan & Sophie Hill and John was preceded in death by his brothers Dennis & Michael. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, November 16 at 11 am at St John & Paul Catholic Church (7777 28 Mile Road, Washington Michigan) with burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan. Visitation will take place at the Church from 10:30—11 am, when the Mass will start. Local arrangements by the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo Michigan.
