Kermit Louis Knuppenburg, age 83, a lifetime Romeo resident, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Green Acres of Mason, Michigan. Kermit was born January 19, 1942 in Mount Clemens, Michigan, the son of Kermit L. and Dorothy Knuppenburg. Kermit was a 1960 graduate of Romeo High School. Throughout his career, Kermit mainly worked at Michigan Rivet Corporation in sales, as well as working with engineers to design parts.

Kermit enjoyed many things in life, entertaining, show and tell, hunting, collecting and shooting guns, riding horses, as well as traveling to Wyoming, out west, up north, and to Florida. Kermit loved Buffalo Bill, and looked up to him; he also had a good sized collection of Indian memorabilia.

Kermit is survived by his children, Kermit (Lucy) of Macomb Township, and Melony Caringi of Lapeer, stepsons, Mark Keiling of Washington, and Steve Keiling of California, grandchildren, Kermit C. (Jamie) Knuppenburg, Dane Jr. Knuppenburg, Tyler (Katie) Trombley, Max Keiling, and great-grandchildren, Noah Crampton, and Aurora Knuppenburg. Kermit is preceded in death by his wife Rosie, son Dane, grandson Andrew, daughter Mary Beth, and sister Dottice Stade.
