Lionel George Malbouef, 80, of Shelby Township passed away in the comfort of his home on Wednesday, June 22, 2022. Lionel was born in Detroit, MI on January 20, 1942 to the late Antoine and Genevieve (Rabinski) Malbouef. He was raised in Roseville, MI where he met and married Ernestine (Tina) Grycza on February 3, 1967. Lionel enjoyed spending time on his sailboat in his younger years and camping with friends and family. He was a union bricklayer for 37 years and retired in 2004. Once retired, he & Tina enjoyed spending most of their time spoiling their grandchildren. They were snowbirds, spending the cold winter months either in Texas or Florida, in their 5th wheel. Lionel was a very kind and generous man, he never turned down the opportunity to help family and friends. He always had a joke, or a funny one-liner when he wanted to make you laugh. He had a passion for his grandchildren more than words could ever express. Since the birth of his first grandchild in 2001, he’s been better known as Papa. His retirement career consisted of watching his grandchildren and eventually becoming a volunteer employee of Mitchell's Lawn Care, he spent many hours riding a lawnmower helping his grandson cut grass. He always had a story to tell about his grandkids that gave him great joy. Lionel is survived by his wife Tina of 55 years, daughter Paula (Walter) Fouts, grandchildren Audrey, Alyse and Mitchell, sister Marlene Malbouef, and brother Lawrence (Barb) Malbouef. He was preceded in death by his sister Lorraine Malbouef. Visitation will be held at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home on Tuesday June 28, 2022 from 3-8pm. Funeral Services will be held at St. Therese Lisieux on Wednesday June 29, 2022 at 10 am. ________________________________________
