Milton Lee Stansbury Jr., age 66, a resident of Romeo since 1970, passed away peacefully at home on July 7, 2025 and went home to his heavenly father.

He was born on May 11, 1959, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Milton Stansbury Sr. and Margaret (Trull) Stansbury. Milton graduated from Romeo High School in 1977 and began his service-focused career with the Romeo Fire Department shortly after. During this time, he also worked for Ford Motor Company and later earned his Heating and Cooling Certification from Macomb Community College.

Driven by a strong sense of duty, Milton went on to attend the Oakland Police Academy, graduating in 1988. He began his law enforcement career with the Lake Orion Police Department and was later hired by the Troy Police Department on January 21, 1991. He served with distinction until his retirement on January 24, 2020.

During his time in Troy, Milton worked in the Traffic Unit as a Motor Carrier/DOT Officer and Crash Investigator. He was also a respected Firearms and Use of Force Instructor and served for many years on the SWAT team as a sniper. His dedication and skill left a lasting impact on those he served with and protected.

Outside of work, Milton was a man of deep faith and quiet strength. He loved studying the Bible, attending church, and sharing his faith with others. He enjoyed hunting, running, hiking, shooting, strong coffee, and dark chocolate—but nothing brought him more joy than his family, especially his grandchildren.

Milton is survived by his loving mother Margaret (Trull) Stansbury and loving children: Derek (Lauren) Stansbury of Bruce Township, MI; Valerie (Richard) Warner of Romeo, MI; and Rachel (Andrew) Brand of Wakefield, MI. He is also survived by his siblings, Joseph (Teretha) Stansbury of Grand Blanc, MI, and Carol Quinn of Kansas City, KS; and his beloved grandchildren: Madison, Wyatt, Carter, Katie, Lila, Noah, Jett, Elin, and Marlo.

He was preceded in death by his father, Milton Stansbury Sr., and his brothers, Daniel and Michael Stansbury.

“Bless the Lord, O my soul.”
