Norman Leo Martin, 74, was welcomed into the arms of his Lord on August 26, 2025. He was
born May 16, 1951, the son of Edwin and Dorothy (McElroy) Martin.
Norman proudly served his country in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. He entered the Army
requesting training in diesel mechanics. He excelled at Wheel Vehicle and Track Vehicle
mechanics. He also received commendations for his marksmanship while in the Army. He
worked for Firestone Tire and Belle Tire for over 33 years. Norman was the
family/friend auto mechanic, helping out whenever needed to keep them on the road. He
shared his knowledge of cars as he played with the children in his life, telling them the name
of each toy vehicle and the characteristics of each. However, he was proudest of the two children
he raised, Ryan and Tara. Being a father, and grandfather, were the roles he enjoyed the most
and he was thankful for that gift.
Norman was an avid woodworker. He built wood tables that will survive natural disasters and
beyond. Norman was instrumental in maintaining and improving the log/stone cabin his
grandparents built. He built walls to enclose the stone porch, completely replaced the supports
and flooring with his sister Loretta’s help, as well as replaced the wall behind the wood burning
stove with his daughter Tara’s help. Norman replaced his mother Dorothy’s back porch, built a
workbench for his beloved Brenda, and countless other woodworking projects.
The world is filled with God’s handiwork. and Norman enjoyed it all. A simple man, he took
great pleasure in things such as a moonlit night, sitting around a campfire under a blanket of
stars, walking through the woods, or laughing with those he loved. Sunrises and sunsets were
two of Norman’s favorite displays of God’s work. It was only fitting that Norman returned to his
heavenly home under the backdrop of a majestic sunset.
Norman’s favorite place was the family cabin. Whether it was fishing, sitting on the beach, or
sharing a campfire with friends and family, Norman found rest and relaxation in the quiet of the
cabin in the woods.
Norman was a man of great strength and wisdom, who loved deeply. His faith was immense and
unwavering, serving as an example to many. He will be greatly missed, and cherished, by all
whose lives he touched.
Norman is survived by his daughter, Tara Lynn Martin-Connin (Ryan), sister Maureen Meyers
(Jon), brother Shawn Martin, grandchildren Collin Martin, Kaitlyn Martin, Zoey Martin, Dylan
Martin, Aidan Connin and Austin Connin. He is also survived by niece Erin Marie Martin,
nephew Stephen Martin (Pam) and great nephew Nicholas Martin.
Norm was predeceased by his parents, brothers Lawrence, Keith and Kevin, sister Loretta, niece
Elizabeth and his son Ryan.
