Paul Edwin Garland, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 23,2025, at the age of 81, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience.
Born on March 4, 1944, in Melvindale, Michigan, Paul graduated from Waterford Kettering High School. He attended Oakland University and later proudly earned his bachelor’s degree from Spring Arbor College.
Paul began working for General Motors in 1964 and dedicated 30 years to the company before retiring. He then went on to work as a customer service representative at NAIC for 14 years.
Paul was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1985, yet he faced each challenge with strength. That same year, he met Janet, the love of his life. They married in 1986 and moved to Romeo. Despite health setbacks, including a stroke in 2007, Paul remained a positive and active presence in the lives of those around him.
Paul played in a band as a drummer for over 30 years. He had a deep love for country music, gardening, and cars especially his prized 1979 red Trans Am, which he proudly showcased at numerous car shows. In 1988, he began leading a local MS support group, offering strength and encouragement to others navigating the same journey.
Paul was known for his corny jokes, warm spirit, and infectious sense of humor. To know him was to laugh with him. More than anything, he was an incredible husband, a devoted father, and a cherished grandfather.
He survived by his children Krista (Jerry) Willette, Jeff (Georgina) Garland, Becky (Robert) Patton, Aimee (Brian) Roke. Grandchildren Andrew, Amanda, Sean, Devon, Nicole, Collin, Grace, Katherine and Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Janet, and daughters Bethany and Laurie.
