Raymond C. Battani, age 84, a resident of the Romeo area since 1985, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2020. Ray was born on March 28, 1936 in Romeo, the youngest son of Bert and Catherine (Conley) Battani. He graduated from the Romeo High School in 1954, and married Elsie LeCluyse. They were married for 64 years together before Ray’s death. In his early years, he worked for the Romeo Post Office for 4 1/2 years, then for the Detroit Police Department for the next 4 1/2 years. Ray then joined the Michigan State Police where he worked the next 25 1/2 years, stationed at the Gaylord, Grand Blanc, & Livonia post until retirement in 1990 as a Detective/Lieutenant. Upon retirement, he worked at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, and at both Romeo Golf Course, and Pine Valley Golf Course. Ray and Elsie were long time members of St Clement Catholic Church, and Ray was 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council # 7018. His hobbies include hunting, trying to golf, being a Michigan State University fan, camping, and watching all types of sporting events. Ray is survived by his wife Elsie, children Robert (Kathy) of Centreville, Virginia, Mike (Linda) of Armada Township., and Angela of Shelby Township. Grandchildren include Stacey, Joey, Julie, & Alex. Also survived by sister-in-laws Myrna & Kathy Battani. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Edward & Paul. Funeral services will take at St Clements Catholic Church on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at 11 AM. Visitation will take place from 9:30 till 11 AM and then those wishing to stay can participate in the Mass. Donations to the Michigan State Police Fallen Trooper fund would be appreciated.
