Robert Russell Bacon, 87, of Romeo, Michigan, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025. Born April 11, 1938, in Ferndale, Michigan, Robert lived a life rooted in devotion—to his family, his work, his faith, and his community.
From 1957 to 1960, Robert proudly served in the United States Army. While stationed in Albuquerque, New Mexico, he met and married Minnie E. Castillo shortly after a blind date arranged by their best friends—marking the beginning of a lifelong partnership of 60 yrs. Following his service, Robert embarked on a distinguished 35-year career with Chrysler Corporation. As a Maintenance Supervisor at the Jefferson North Assembly Plant, he earned the respect of his peers for his leadership, integrity, and relentless work ethic.
Robert was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Minnie; his parents, Robert Joseph Bacon and Martha Elizabeth (Cunningham) Bacon; and all of his siblings: Betty Jane (Bacon) Menzies and Archie Menzies, Barbara Ellen (Bacon) Lankford and Jerry “Wayne” Lankford SR, Gerald Gene Bacon and Frances Mary (Kress) Bacon, David Lawrence Bacon and Nancy (Bacon) (survived) and Martha “Martie” Kay (Bacon) Cunningham and William Thomas Cunningham (survived). He is survived by his daughter, Cherrie Nicole (Bacon) Tebeau, and son, Robert Russell Bacon Jr.; son-in-law Robert Tebeau; and his beloved granddaughter, Ava Grace Tebeau.
Robert was a man of quiet strength, known for his honesty, sense of humor, and ability to connect with everyone he met. He enjoyed golfing, friendly conversations, and his many impromptu “stop-ins” to see his favorite financial advisor, chat with the guys at the dealership over coffee and donuts or catch up with employees at Sam’s Club. A man of deep but humble faith, Robert dedicated many years volunteering at St. Clement Catholic Church in Romeo, where he found both fellowship and fulfillment.
Never one to be left behind by technology, Robert taught himself how to use—and eventually build—computers, proving it’s never too late to learn something new. His dry wit and playful teasing were trademarks of his personality, often leaving those around him smiling or laughing.
Above all, Robert was devoted to his family. He was a constant, dependable presence, whether it meant driving two hours each week to visit his father in his later years or showing up with a steady hand and open heart whenever he was needed.
Robert leaves behind a legacy of service, resilience, and kindness. In his memory, we encourage you to do something that would have made him smile—volunteer, play a round of golf, visit an old friend, or simply share a laugh with someone.
Though we will miss him deeply, we find comfort in knowing he is reunited with Minnie and all the loved ones who went before him and resting in the peace of Christ.
