Violet “Vi” Abercrombie, age 95, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026. Violet was born on July 26, 1930, to Harold and Evelyn (Whitmore) Dean. She was the eldest of four children and grew up alongside three younger brothers. Violet graduated fromSouth Lake High School in 1948.She met the love of her life, Roy Daniel Abercrombie, while the two were working togethe rat Roy O’Brien Ford dealership in St. Clair Shores. Violet and Roy were married in 1949 and shared a loving and cherished marriage that spanned decades until his passing in 1998.A longtime and faithful member of Romeo United Methodist Church, Violet’s faith and community were important pillars throughout her life. She was a wonderful cook who took great pride in preparing homemade meals for her loved ones. She especially enjoyed her collection of Christmas nutcrackers and was well known for never missing a birthday or Christmas card—a small but meaningful reflection of her lifelong attentiveness to others.
She is survived by her loving son Brian Abercrombie; her granddaughter Lindsey(Christopher) Elwood, her daughter-in-law, Beth Abercrombie; her grandchildren, Adam Abercrombie, Angela (Lindsay) Abercrombie, and Andrew (Kasey) Abercrombie; her cherished great-grandsons, Lennox and Declan Abercrombie, and her brother Dennis Dean.Violet was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Roy; their son, Dale Abercrombie; and her brothers, Donald Dean and Bob Dean.Above all, Violet was deeply proud of her family and thankful for the many blessings in her life. She will be remembered as a caring, thoughtful, and loving presence in the lives of all who knew her.
A burial of her Cremated Remains will take place in Spring 2026, when she will be laid to rest beside her husband Roy at the Capac Cemetery.
