William "Bill" Benn

William "Bill" Benn 93, from Ray Township died on March 30, 2026. He was born October 8, 1932 and raised in Yale MI, son of Peter and Jennie Benn. Bill grew up working on the family farm and graduated from Yale High school. He enlisted in the Army in December 1952 during the Korean War and served in the 59th Combat Engineers. Upon returning Bill worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator and was a loyal member of Local 324 for 71 years.

Bill married Mary Caroline Gibbons on November 23, 1957 and they enjoyed 68 years together raising 3 children, Julie Kratz, Peter Benn and David (April) Benn, 3 grandsons, Phillip and John Kratz and William Benn, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Bill loved to work outside cutting grass or on his tractor working up the fields. During the winter months Bill and Carol were Snowbirds and loved to camp and travel with their friends in Florida.

A celebration of Life is planned for this summer.
